Save the date: Spring/Summer Meeting set for Wednesday, June 26th, 9:30am

Dear GNYMLA members,

The spring/summer meeting of the Greater New York MLA chapter will be held on Wednesday, Jun 26, 2012, at 9:30am, at Columbia University. Coffee and refreshments will be served at 9:30, and the meeting will begin at 10:00am. I’ve blocked out up until 1pm for the meeting, but it may end earlier, depending on final number of presentations.

Barbara Haws and Mitchell Brodsky, of the NY Philharmonic archives (, have generously offered to make a presentation to the group. I’ll provide a brief overview of the archives of the Creative Music Studio, which are currently being accessioned by Columbia ( Other additional short presentations may be added. A short business meeting will follow, and we’ll have an informal lunch meeting in the area for any interested members. Further details on the meeting’s final agenda, with a more specific timetable and directions to the even, will follow soon.

I hope to see many of you there for what is sure to be an interesting presentation. I’m also hoping to get your input on what activities and direction the GNYMLA chapter can take over the next year. Bring any ideas on what the chapter can do to enhance the work of our members.

Please send me any items you might like to see on the agenda. There will also be an opportunity to check/update your membership at the meeting, if needed, although I encourage you to do this in advance. You can do this using the PayPal link in the righthand sidebar of all pages on this site.

It would be helpful if you can RSVP, simply by emailing me at, so we have an idea about head-count. Hope to see you all soon!

Nick Patterson

    Dear Nick,

I plan to attend the June 26 meeting at Columbia University. I will look for a future email on the room number and building–Dodge?

I tried to download a PDF for the dues and could NOT for some reason. I will try again. Is there any ting else I could do manually? If not I guess I could try paypal which I have not yet used.

    Best wishes,

    Patrick Hardish
